	Description:
	“Dream from afar” reveals personal memories based on collective traumas South African citizens experienced in 2008 with the violent xenophobic attacks on international foreigners. Trough this animation I refer to myself as receiver of the news while I was living in Melbourne. Dream from Afar portrays how I retreat into the magical world of beautiful memories of my home country, South Africa. The animation becomes an ironic interpretation of how the country depends on foreign international tourists and workers for economical boosts; however violence towards these groups is committed. By referring to the beauty in animal life and nature, Dream from Afar presents my escape from the reality of violence in South Africa.
